In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Alliance of Women Film Journalists presents its first-ever bouquet of Men We Love Awards.
We’ve polled our members and, this year, we’re honoring twelve outstanding male colleagues who have shown consistent appreciation and respect for our organization, and helped us to reach our goals during the past year.

The new action-adventure movie “Jumper” has plenty going for it: an intriguing science-fiction concept, exotic locales and solid special effects, with a proven director at the helm.
But “Jumper” never reaches its full potential, mostly because of what isn’t in the movie. Read more>>

Although I sometimes have a bit of what Laura Linney referred to at this year’s Telluride Film Festival as an “allergic reaction” to film festival panels that focus on women in filmmaking, I also understand the need to have such panels. The point has been made, not inaccurately, that so long as women continue to be marginalized in Hollywood, the need for panels that highlight women’s accomplishments in film will still exist. Unfortunately, that marginalization exists across the board in our industry, extending also to women who work as film journalists. Read more

The film is an obvious plea for the world to find a way to treat and relieve women suffering from obstetric fistula, and ultimately, eliminate the condition?s causes by providing proper prenatal care and child birthing supervision, especially in rural and impoverished regions. Read more>>
