To tell the truth, I am speechless. The Shawshank Redemption is great. I'am a young film fan, as a matter of fact, this film appeared the same yearI was born, and therefore I'am to a greater extent used to movies with marvelous special effects, edge-of-your-seat action, et cetera. This movie has none of that, and nonetheless, it appeals me very much . The way Frank Darabont uses the story of Red to drive on the tale, the excellent the soundtrack applied (note the harmonica used just before Red getting the letter close to the end). The entire film, from beginning to end, from actions to music, is a lighthouse of hope, judgment, and repurchase. The cast is mastered, Morgan Freeman(Red) actually brings about a refreshing feel to the film, and that's precisely what the film is, what a movie should be. Really recommended for each movie fan.

just a few random points

I think a little bit of it is misogyny look at the crap male actors get away with all the time. I think it's true what she said about Knocked Up - shame on Rogen and Apatow for badmouthing her for that - hitting a nerve, guys?

Same goes for the crap guys say about Megan Fox

There are no roles for women in Hollywood what a sad state we're in

I liked that she stood up publicly for a friend - I'd like to think I'd do the same

Tom Cruise dug his own ditch! Sean Penn is an asshole!

I think she should stop complaining about working those long hours on her hit tv show tho cos 99.9 % of actors would kill for that nevermind the rest of the population who would love to be earning what she is in this economy - now that does sounds ungrateful - she was looking for sympathy there and it's really an out of touch thing to say

I just thought of more men that have either become pop culture jokes or annoyances within the last decade: Ben Affleck, Mel Gibson, and the Bromance Triplets Jake Gylenhaal, Mathew Mcconaughey, and Lance Armstrong.

After a while, people get bored with them and eventually like them again usually, but they have to stop doing annoying things for people to do that. If Katherine Heigl would give it a rest and stop being grating, stop complaining every time she opens her mouth, people would forget that they didn't like her.

As a woman, I don't think Katherine Heigl should shut up because I'm sexist. I think she should shut up before she ruins her career and causes me to find her any more annoying.

This didn't start with her comments about Knocked Up. It started with her behavior during the Washington/Knight issue. She was given the opportunity to open her mouth and she hasn't stopped since then. It irritates people.

I also found it pathetic that she could stand by her "friend" TR Knight for being called the "f" word yet stands next to Leslie Mann for minutes on in during "Knocked Up" as she yells repeatedly to the bouncer calling him the same word. But she got millions for that, so it's okay. Washington does it off set and he should "just stop talking." (Her words)

Men are just as ostricized as women. Look for how long Tom Cruise has been hated. Sean Penn may be loved in some circles, but in others, he's an angry loudmouth.

As a woman, I actually am more concerned and tired of the homophobia that runs rampant in "chick flicks." They'll use vulgar, hateful words for gays, make fun of them, use them only as characters if they are neutured and a-sexual. Isn't this just as worrisome?

If Katherine Heigl is so concerned about the roles she's getting, why does she keep taking them? She has a steady job on Grey's Anatomy. She wouldn't have the opportunity to choose what films she wants to take?

The truth is, she's trying to break out into chick flick stardom and be the next Reese Witherspoon but she *will* bite the hand that feeds her. The only way to stop a certain type of role being played is to stop playing it.

Hey Tony, that's a great idea. I'd watch, too, and AWFJ would be very happy to see that happen. In fact, we're considering broadcasting critics' roundtables, and MaryAnn would certainly be part of that project. Thanks for taking note, and for your support.

you might want to look at
http://www.abc.net.au/atthemovies/
to see a program with the same name and a female reviewer.

I think you're being a little hard on Newsweek. I think NW was trying to be on your side on this issue, even if clumsily so.

I think some - ableit a small amount - of the KH bashing also has to do with confusing her with her character on Grey's, which is a pretty damned annoyingly written character.

What's more interesting to me is Heigl's future. She's proven to be a big box office draw in all those horrible so-called RomComs, so she now has some serious clout. Will she take that clout and apply it to developing some interesting projects that AREN'T Apatow-type garbage?
