Women on AFI’s top 100 films ballot
AWFJ congratulates the women directors included among the 400 films nominationed for the 10th Anniversary Edition of AFI’s 100 Years 100 Movies list. They are

- Amy Heckerling for “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”
- Sofia Coppola for “Lost In Translation”
- Nora Ephron for “Sleepless in Seattle”
- Vicky Jensen, co-director of “Shrek.”
Ballots include space for five write-ins, and we’re hoping that voters will remember that there are additional significant women-directed films with huge fan bases– Marshall’s “A League of Their Own” and Heckerling’s “Clueless,” not to mention Ida Lupino”s “Hard, Fast & Beautiful” and Dorothy Arzner’s “Dance, Girl, Dance,” Nancy Meyer’s “Something’s Gotta Give,” and “Gillian Armstrong’s “Little Women,” among them.
