Rosario Dawson, interviewed by Jeanne Wolf

Kickass turnabout is fair play: “Normally, the guys would be the heroes and the women be the slashed-up, half-nude victims. But we get to fight back,” Rosario Dawson tells Jeanne Wolf.

On Movies.com, Wolf talks to Dawson about kicking Snake Plissken’s butt in Quentin Tarantino’s “Deathproof”:

After spicing up Sin City for Rodriguez, Rosario Dawson couldn’t wait to team up with Quentin Tarantino for his half of Grindhouse. I asked her if The Sound of Music would be her next project, and she cracked up. “I’ll do that one for my grandmother,” she declared. In Deathproof , she spends a lot of time in the back seat of a vintage Dodge Challenger being pursued in a terrifying chase by a serial stalker played by Kurt Russell. She wasn’t worried about getting the leading role, all she wanted was to be in the film.

What you won’t see: “Believe me, there’s a half-hour missing from this movie. For instance, Vanessa Ferlito does a lap dance for Kurt Russell that’s going to be worth waiting for. I guess it will be in the DVD.”

Quentin Tarantino, a girl’s slashermeister: “Normally, the guys would be the heroes and the women be the slashed-up, half-nude victims. But we get to fight back. At one point, we were beating up on Kurt Russell, and I’m thinking, I’m kicking Snake Plissken’s ass.”

Shhhhh! Sin City 2 secrets (still secret): “It’s called A Dame to Kill For. It’s going to be the prequel to my segment in the first one, so you’ll understand a little bit more what the argument was between Clive Owen and my character. Brittany Murphy’s coming back and Jessica Alba’s coming back. And the lead actress is going to be absolutely fabulous — but I can’t tell you who it is.”

Blow on our thumb, we’ll follow you anywhere: “I also did a voice on Rob Zombie’s animated feature, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto. I play a stripper. She does very interesting things by blowing on her thumb, like making her boobs change size.”

Hot for donkey sex: “In Grindhouse, I’m an Elvis-loving, doll-collecting, woman-in-a-trailer-home kind of gal. It’s definitely offbeat. But I’m the one who wanted to do Clerks 2, ’cause there was a donkey sex scene in it. I definitely have my affection for weird, twisted things.”
