AWFJ Movie of the Week, May 2 – May 8 – CAPTAIN AMERICA – CIVIL WAR
Opening May 6, AWFJ’s Movie of the Week is Captain America: Civil War, the latest outing for Marvel’s patriotic superhero which sees a rift between two of the Avengers cause a major rift in the group – which could have dire consequences for the rest of humanity. Read on…
Chris Evans returns as the super soldier, who has a major disagreement with Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man over the US government’s involvement in their world-saving actions. Their argument becomes a major faultline through the rest of the Avengers, including Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Don Cheadle’s War Machine and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, threatening their unity and their ability to keep the world safe.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Captain America: Winter Solder), this is another reliably bombastic entry in Marvel’s enjoyable Avengers canon.
AWFJ Movie of the Week Panelists Comments:
Anne Brodie: Captain America is the Marvel superhero for me. Incredibly excited to see Civil War to snicker at his old-fashioned ways and marvel at his good manners.
Leba Hertz: All I can say is I can’t wait to see Captain America: Civil War. It seems to have all the elements in place for a great superhero action flick.
