WEEK IN WOMEN: Producer Darla Anderson Inks Netflix Deal – Brandy McDonnell reports

Netflix has entered into a multi-year overall deal with Darla K. Anderson, the Academy Award-, Golden Globe- and BAFTA-winning producer of Disney/Pixar hits like Coco, Cars and Toy Story 3.

At Netflix, Anderson will develop and produce new animated and live action projects, both feature films and series, for family audiences around the world, according to a news release.

Anderson produced Disney/Pixar’s Coco, which won the 2018 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film. Under Anderson’s creative direction, Pixar exclusively cast Latino and Mexican actors in the film, making Coco the first Hollywood feature film to have an all-Latino and Mexican cast for both the English and Spanish-language versions. Raised on a farm near Lindsay, Okla., she started her journalism career in seventh grade, when she was elected reporter for her school's 4-H Club. In 2004, she won a prestigious Journalism Fellowship in Child & Family Policy from the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
