WEEK IN WOMEN: Zurich Film Fest’s High Score for Films by Women – Brandy McDonnell reports

The 15th Zurich Film Festival will feature more than 170 films from 58 countries, including more works by women directors than ever before.

Cate Blanchett, Kristen Stewart and Julie Delpy will be among the big names to be showcased at the Swiss festival, set for Sept. 26-Oct. 6.

The festival will screen a total of 171 films, nine more than last year. Twelve are world premieres and five are European premieres. The three Golden Eye competitions focus on young, original cinema with a total of 44 debut films competing.

The Zurich Film Festival will present more films by women directors across almost all sections of the festival than ever before, namely 55, according to a news release. That amounts to an increase of 39 percent on last year. Continue reading on THE WEEK IN WOMEN.
