WEEK IN WOMEN: Anna Kendrick to star in Mary Nighy’s ALICE DARLING – Brandy McDonnell reports
Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick will star in and executive produce the femme-focused psychological thriller Alice, Darling, now in production in Canada.
Mary Nighy’s feature film directorial debut, the film also stars Wunmi Mosaku, Kaniehtiio Horn and Charlie Carrick. It is written by Alanna Francis (The Rest of Us).
Nighy’s previous directing work for television includes episodes of Industry, Traces and Silent Witness.
“Alice, Darling is a subtle, nuanced story about coercion and control. As a director, I couldn’t wish for a better cast of talented actors and creatives to bring this important story to life. The chemistry between Anna Kendrick, Wunmi Mosaku, and Kaniehtiio Horn as the three friends is a joy to see,” Nighy said in a statement.
The movie focuses on Alice (Kendrick), who is behaving strangely and keeping secrets about her mercurial boyfriend (Carrick) from her two best friends (Mosaku and Horn).
