AWFJ Announces 2021 EDA Awards Nominations – Jennifer Merin reports
In our 15th annual awards season, we present EDA Awards in 25 categories divided into three sections, the BEST OF AWARDS, FEMALE FOCUS AWARDS and EDA SPECIAL MENTION AWARDS.
Competition is particularly tight this year, and we are especially pleased to see our EDA Award nominations dominated by women filmmakers in all major craft categories, and not just those in the FEMALE FOCUS section.
Jane Campion’s THE POWER OF THE DOG tops the list with a total of 12 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and bests in acting and craft categories.
PASSING is second with nine nominations and THE LOST DAUGHTER and BELFAST are tied for third place, each with eight nominations.
Additionally, in our SPECIAL EDA AWARDS section, Dame Judi Dench, Ms Rita Moreno and Dame Diana Rigg are vying for the Grand Dame Award, while Amy Adams, Melissa McCarthy and Chloe Grace Moretz are nominated for the cheeky She Deserves a New Agent Award.
Nominees in each category are determined by AWFJ members who submit nominating ballots. There are currently 92 voting AWFJ members. The full membership list is accessible here. And the 2020 EDA Award nominees are listed here.
