WEEK IN WOMEN: Caroline Lindy’s YOUR MONSTER Hits Halloween – Brandy McDonnell reports
Caroline Lindy’s Your Monster, an official selection of the Midnight program at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, is getting a spooky season theatrical release.
The film is directed, produced and written by Lindy as well as produced by Kayla Foster, Shannon Reilly, Melanie Donkers and Kira Carstensen.
A New York City native, Lindy moved to Los Angeles to pursue her passion for filmmaking. She was awarded a grant from Women in Film to make the 2020 short film Your Monster which she expanded into her first feature length film.
Your Monster tells the story of the soft-spoken actor Laura Franco (Melissa Barrera, 2022’s Scream), who is dumped by her longtime boyfriend (Edmund Donovan, Hightown) while recovering from surgery and retreats to her childhood home to recover. With her future looking bleak, insult is added to injury when Laura discovers her ex is staging a musical that she helped him develop. But out of these gut-wrenching life changes emerges a monster (Tommy Dewey, Perry Mason) with whom she finds a connection, encouraging Laura to follow her dreams, open her heart and fall in love with her inner rage.
