WEEK IN WOMEN: Rebecca Miller’s MR. SCORSESE debuts on Apple TV+ – Brandy McDonnell reports

Accaimed director Rebecca Miller’s Mr. Scorsese, a five-part documentary series about Academy Award-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese, is set to premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Oct. 17. The new series grants audiences unprecedented access to The director, who candidly reveals the story of his life and career.

In Mr. Scorsese, Miller examines how Scorsese’s colorful life experiences informed his artistic vision, as each film he made stunned the world with originality. Starting with his earliest experiences making New York University student films through to the present day, the docuseries explores the themes that have fascinated Scorsese, including the place of good and evil in the fundamental nature of humankind.

Mr. Scorsese is billed as a film portrait of a man through the lens of his work, exploring the many facets of a visionary who redefined filmmaking, including his extraordinary career and unique personal history.

Miller, who is the daughter of Arthur Miller and the wife of Daniel Day-Lewis, is an Independent Spirit and Gotham Award-winning and Emmy-nominated filmmaker who has written and directed several feature films, including Angela (1995), winner of the Sundance Film Festival Filmmakers Trophy and Cinematography Award, as well as the Gotham Award; Personal Velocity (2002), winner of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Cinematography Award, as well as the Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award; The Ballad of Jack and Rose (2005); The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009); Maggie’s Plan (2015); Arthur Miller: Writer (2017) a documentary for HBO; and She Came to Me (2023).
