WEEK IN WOMEN: Fennell’s WUTHERING HEIGHTS opens for Valentine’s day – Brandy McDonnell reports
Billed as a bold and original imagining of one of the greatest love stories of all time, Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights stars Margot Robbie as Cathy and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, whose forbidden passion for one another turns from romantic to intoxicating in an epic tale of lust, love and madness. Fennell directs from her own screenplay based on the famed 1847 novel by Emily Brontë.
The film also stars Oscar nominee Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, BAFTA winner Martin Clunes and Ewan Mitchell. Oscar and BAFTA winner Jacqueline Durran designed the costumes. Original songs by Charli XCX are featured.
Fennell produces alongside Oscar nominees and BAFTA winners Josey McNamara and Robbie. Oscar nominee Tom Ackerley and Sara Desmond are executive producers. The romantic drama marks Fennell’s third feature film and third collaboration with Robbie, Ackerley and McNamara’s LuckyChap.
LuckyChap also produced Fennell’s previous films, including her 2020 debut feature “Promising Young Woman,” which was nominated for five Oscars and won for Fennell’s original screenplay. Continue reading on THE WEEK IN WOMEN.
