The Alliance of Women Film Journalists is proud that our 2018 EDA Awards nominees and winners genuinely reflect the movie industry’s recent advances in the cause of equality and diversity. Our EDA Awards always honor the year’s best films and artists, regardless of gender, but we also recognize the need to have categories that focus specifically on women’s achievements in an industry that still has a long way to go to reach gender parity and equal opportunity for all.

The Alliance of Women Film Journalists is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 AWFJ EDA Awards. In our 12th annual awards season, we present EDA Awards in 25 categories divided into three sections, the BEST OF AWARDS, FEMALE FOCUS AWARDS AND EDA SPECIAL MENTION AWARDS. AWFJ EDA AWARDS 2018 Nominees – Jennifer Merin reports

The Favourite dominates with 11 EDA Award nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress (two of them!), Best Ensemble, Best Cinematography and Best Editing among them. Also high on AWFJ’s list of favorites are Leave No Trace, Roma and Vice, with each garnering eight nominations. Blackkklansman, Black Panther and If Beale Street Could Talk are next in the cue, tied at five nominations each. But, who’s tagged for the Actress Most in Need of a New Agent Award and Bravest Performance Award?

AWFJ EDA Awards @ Whistler Film Festival 2018: The Winners – Jennifer Merin reports

For the sixth consecutive year, the Alliance of Women Film Journalists has had the honor to present AWFJ EDA Awards at Whistler Film Festival, recognizing the significant work of women directors whose films are screening at the festival. AWARDS INTELLIGENCER: Early Oscars Buzz for LEAVE NO TRACE — Jennifer Merin reports

Beloved by Sundance and other top film festivals, as well as by the Academy and indie awards organizations and a long list of awards-presenting critics groups, Debra Granik is attracting early Oscars buzz for Leave No Trace, her third narrative feature. AWFJ selected Leave No Trace as Movie of the Week for June 29, and an informal poll of AWFJ members shows that the film is placing high on most members’ lists of best 2018 films to date.
