The film’s core message is direct: Female pleasure is fundamental to health, dignity, and equality, not a trivial matter. Witty, incisive, and unapologetically provocative, The Pink Pill demands that viewers confront the hypocrisy of a culture that celebrates male virility while policing female desire. It challenges the rising chorus of voices that seek to return women to narrower roles under the banner of tradition or faith. And it insists that acknowledging women as full sexual beings is not radical. It is overdue. In the end, the pink pill is not just about libido. It is about whether society is willing to accept that women’s pleasure carries weight. It deserves research, respect, and recognition. That it is not a problem to be suppressed, but a reality to be understood. The fear exposed in this film is real. So is the resolve of those who refuse to be silenced.

The Pink Pill: Sex, Drugs & Who Has Control, the informative (and infuriating) film from director Aisling Chin-Yee, centres on entrepreneur Cindy Eckert, founder of Sprout Pharmaceuticals and fierce advocate for women’s sexual health and gender equity. Outspoken and always dressed in bright pink, Eckert worked for years to get the drug flibanserin, which ameliorates low sex drive in women, approved by the FDA. Her journey is captured here. The hardest part to watch is coverage of the 2016 election and the events that follow —the rigging of the Supreme Court, the end of Roe v Wade, the 2024 election. The Pink Pill presents the bleak landscape of rights erosion for everyone except straight white males.

Billy Tipton was married 5 times, raising 3 adoptive sons, and none of them knew he was trans. This is not a pedantic, traditional, talking-heads kind of documentary. There are well-chosen and diverse artistic representatives offering a wide spectrum of the binary and non binary points of view, and they do so with candor and introspection. The result is sometimes heartbreaking, but also revelatory, life-affirming, and inspiring. No Ordinary Man is no ordinary documentary.
