THE WISHING TREE – Review by Valerie Kalfrin

The indie feature The Wishing Tree stirs inevitable comparisons to Wild, the 2014 adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s memoir starring Reese Witherspoon. In both, a woman hikes into nature to deal with her grief and find a measure of purpose and peace. While the journey of self-discovery in The Wishing Tree is relatable, one wishes director/writer/star Laura Adamo had explored the thoughts and insecurities of her lead character more deeply, or encountered a little more magic.
