GLASS – Review by Brandy McDonnell

With the help of arbitrary deadlines, handy coincidences and characters explaining comic book tropes, Shyamalan attempts a series of elaborate plot twists – of course – that he doesn’t quite pull off cleanly but that are still pretty nifty and unveil some interesting surprises. Herculean performances by McAvoy, Willis and Jackson keep “Glass” watchable even when the narrative gets murky.

AWFJ Women On Film – “Surrogates” – Susan Granger reviews

Sci-fi is one of my favorite genres and this thriller has an intriguing premise. Sometime in the not-too-distant future, robot technology has enabled mankind to live ‘vitually’ through remote-controlled surrogates who go through the trials and tribulations of daily life (commuting, work, etc.) for them while they stay home, clad in bathrobes, cocooned in ‘stim chairs,’ hooked up to gizmos that allow them to control their ‘surreys.’
