New York Women in Film & Television recently announced the presentation of seven scholarships to film, television, and media production students at New York area schools this year as part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of women in media. The scholarships were presented to women studying at Brooklyn College, City College, Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, Hunter College, New York University, and Stony Brook University. Plus, one student received the Sabrina Wright-Gilliar Award at the Academy for Careers in Television & Film (TvF).

WEEK IN WOMEN: NYWIFT celebrates 2023 Muse Awards — Brandy McDonnell Reports

New York Women in Film & Television hosted its 42nd Muse Awards at its annual gala lunch held on March 28 at New York’s Cipriani 42nd Street. Celebrating women of vision and achievement, the lunchtime gala is New York Women in Film & Television’s flagship fundraising event, attended by leading executives from every major studio, broadcast and cable network and film production facility. This year’s Muse Awards honorees include actors Freida Pinto and Sharon Stone, IFC Films President Arianna Bocco, television personality Sandra Lee and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Janet Yang.

WEEK IN WOMEN: New York Women in Film & Television grants Film Festival awards and Scholarships – Brandy McDonnell reports

New York Women in Film & Television has presented 10 scholarships to film and television production students and 14 festival awards to filmmakers at seven New York area festivals in 2022 as part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of women in media. The festival award winners each received a cash prize in addition to a one-year Industry Membership with New York Women in Film & Television. Most were presented in-person by a member of the organization’s leadership team at each festival’s awards ceremony or screening.
