I had such high hopes for Showtime’s 10-episode series, The First Lady, But, created by Aaron Cooley with Cathy Schulman as showrunner and stiffly directed by Suzanne Bier, the interlocking narratives, utilizing archival footage, are oddly structured, profiling First Ladies Betty Ford, Michelle Obama and Eleanor Roosevelt – before, during and after their East Wing experience.

THE SUNLIT NIGHT – Review by Liz Braun

The Sunlit Night, a slight romantic comedy saturated in whimsy, has its moments — all of them courtesy Jenny Slate, playing a struggling artist trying to find herself in a remote corner of Norway. Director David Wnendt seems to have organized all the right bits and pieces but something happened in the process of putting them all together.
