THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME – Review by Susan Granger

Adapted from Laura Dave’s 2001 best-seller, the limited series The Last Thing He Told Me finds relatively newly married Hannah (Jennifer Garner) teaming up with her 16 year-old step-daughter Bailey (Angourie Rice) to track down her husband Owen Michaels (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who has gone missing. It’s an interesting premise but lacks the kind of edgy urgency that would make it into a compelling thriller.

THE ADAM PROJECT – Review by Susan Granger

Still grieving over the death of his father, nerdy, asthmatic 12-year-old Adam finds it difficult to cope with school bullies. Then, one night, he discovers a wounded fighter pilot hiding in his garage.
To Adam’s astonishment, the pilot turns out to be a buff, older version of himself from 2050, when time-travel is trendy. He needs incredulous young Adam to help him on a secret mission which involves going back to 2018 to find their workaholic physicist father, who can save future mankind from total chaos by changing the past.

When a struggling Southern California mother, Riley North (Jennifer Garner), sees her husband (Jeff Hephner) and 10 year-old daughter (Cailey Fleming) slaughtered in a drive-by killing at a local Christmas Carnival, she conscientiously identifies the Mexican cartel gunmen in a police line-up. But corruption corrodes the criminal justice system and the obviously guilty suspects are released.
