Iconic American actress Kim Novak, 92, has been named a 2025 recipient of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia. Her image will remain forever linked to the dual characters she played in Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo,” which became the role of her life. Pairing Novak and James Stewart, the film has become unforgettable and continues to excite and haunt audiences today. Vertigo has been named the Best Film Ever Made by the British Film Institute and was the first motion picture to be named as part of the Library of Congress.

Iconic American actress and three-time Academy Award nominee Sigourney Weaver is receiving the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, set for Aug. 28-Sept. 7 in Italy. A BAFTA and Golden Globe winner, Weaver has created a host of memorable characters, both dramatic and comic, ranging from Ripley in Alien to Dian Fossey in Gorillas in the Mist. Born and educated in New York City, Weaver graduated from Stanford University and went on to receive a master’s degree from the Yale School of Drama. Her first professional job was in Sir John Gielgud’s production of The Constant Wife, working with Ingrid Bergman.
