New York Women in Film & Television hosted its 42nd Muse Awards at its annual gala lunch held on March 28 at New York’s Cipriani 42nd Street. Celebrating women of vision and achievement, the lunchtime gala is New York Women in Film & Television’s flagship fundraising event, attended by leading executives from every major studio, broadcast and cable network and film production facility. This year’s Muse Awards honorees include actors Freida Pinto and Sharon Stone, IFC Films President Arianna Bocco, television personality Sandra Lee and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Janet Yang.

Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao brings her intimate, personal style of storytelling to cinema’s most sprawling universe, introducing new characters and new ideas to the familiar franchise. Despite the action and the visual effects, there’s little to remind us that this is a Marvel movie. it serves as a curious addition to the collection and an exciting peek into the future of the franchise. It is a future more reflective of the world we live in, with grander ideas and new types of storytelling.
