Following its successful summer box office run, writer-director Celine Song’s directorial debut Past Lives debuts on Blu-ray + Digital and DVD in September from A24 and Lionsgate. But Joy Ride isn’t a one-way trip. Lim brings the venture full circle as the ladies explore not just their sexuality, but stereotypes, friendship and belonging — and learning how to appreciate who they are. Joy Ride is full throttle and full frontal and just when you think it’s an irreverent comedy on cruise control, it turns down the road to redemption with sparks of subtle social commentary and soul.

SPOTLIGHT June 2023: Molly Conners and Jane Sinisi, Producers, Founders of Phiphen Studios in New Jersey

New Jersey has a stellar, and very important role in history of American film, particularly as it relates to female filmmakers. In 1912, Alice Guy-Blanché, the first female director in history, opened Solex Studios, one of the most successful studios in early American film, in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Now two producers, Molly Conners and Jane Sinisi, have opened Phiphen Studios in Englewood Cliff. Their goal is to support and and be part of expanding the ever-growing New Jersey film community, which saw an increase in investment from $70 million in 2017 to over a half billion dollars just two years later in 2019.

Courtney Kemp, the creator of Starz’s crime drama Power, has signed what has been deemed as a “one-of-a-kind” agreement with the premium cable channel’s parent company, Lionsgate. The development and production deal offers Kemp and her End of Episode shingle the opportunity to expand the Power franchise with potential spinoffs among a number of commitments by Starz.
