Opening September 2, AWFJ’s Movie of the Week is The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution, Stanley Nelson’s fascinating documentary looking at the rise, prevailing influence and eventual demise of the the Black Panthers, a group at the heart of the civil rights movement in America. The footage of demonstrations and interviews with noted Black Panther leaders, and revelations about the government’s efforts to infiltrate and derail its program are enlightening.
