DUMBO – Review by Brandy McDonnell

The latest film in the Disney canon to get a (mostly) live-action remake, “Dumbo” presents plenty of challenges: The original runs an unfussy 64 minutes, boasts some of the most indelible sights and sounds in cinema history and features a bevy of material that hasn’t aged well, especially a character literally named Jim Crow who leads a flock of racial stereotypes on the wing and a trippy sequence of a drunken baby elephant hallucinating.
