“Star Trek: Discovery” and “Crazy Rich Asians” star Michelle Yeoh has joined the powerhouse cast of “Gunpowder Milkshake,” an action thriller from StudioCanal and The Picture Company.

Navot Papushado, half of the duo behind the dark Israeli breakout “Big Bad Wolves,” is directing the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Yeoh joins a cast that already includes high-caliber stars “Avengers: Endgame’s” Karen Gillan, “Game of Thrones’” Lena Headey and “Black Panther’s” Angela Bassett and “Billions” headliner Paul Giamatti.

The script, which Papushado penned with Ehud Lavski, is described as centering on a mother-daughter assassin duo played by Gillan and Headey. Yeoh will play part of a sisterhood of secret arms dealers who come together to help Gillan’s character when things go south.

Production is slated to start June 3 in Berlin.

StudioCanal and The Picture Company Partners Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman are producing. Aharon Keshales is executive producing, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

StudioCanal will distribute the movie in the U.K., Australia, Germany and France, while selling rights to other territories. UTA is co-representing the U.S. rights.

As previously reported, Yeoh stars on “Star Trek: Discovery” as Captain Philippa Georgiou, a member of a shadowy organization within the Federation. The character is popular enough that she is getting her own spinoff series with Yeoh on board to reprise the role. The seasoned performer will be seen in James Cameron’s upcoming “Avatar” sequels as well as “Last Christmas,” a romantic comedy co-starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding that Universal has slated for December release.
