Gal Gadot, who is currently filming with director Patty Jenkins next year’s sequel to 2017’s “Wonder Woman,” will portray actor and inventor Hedy Lamarr in a Showtime limited series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The series would come from Sarah Treem, co-creator of “The Affair,” and chronicle the life of Lamarr, the Austrian-born performer who starred in “Ecstasy,” “Samson and Delilah” and other films.

Lamarr also was an inventor who, along with composer George Antheil, one of her friends, patented a frequency-hopping system during World War II that presaged Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology. Lamarr and Antheil were inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014.

Lamarr’s life was recounted in the 2017 documentary Bombshell, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and aired in May as part of PBS’ “American Masters.”

In addition, NBC’s “Timeless” aired in March an episode that featured Lamarr, played by Alyssa Sutherland.

Warren Littlefield (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Fargo”) will executive produce the limited series with Treem. The project comes from Endeavor Content.

On Twitter, Gadot called the Lamarr biopic series “A dream come true.”

“So grateful and excited to be telling this amazing story that caught my heart at first read,” she wrote on Twitter. “Can’t wait to hear that first ‘Action!’”
