Spanish filmmaker Sonia Sebastian casts Penelope Ann Miller and Dermot Mulroney in ‘The Virgin of Highland Park’

Co-written by Sebastian and Miguel Alcantud, the indie film follows a virgin teenager who, when she takes a physical to join the soccer team, is astounded to learn that she is pregnant, according to Deadline.
The girl desperately tries figure out an explanation – she is neither ready to become a mother nor ready to think of herself as the iconic Virgin – as her life begins to fall apart.
Miller and Mulroney will play the teen’s parents, Jessica and Edison. Married 17 years and deeply in love, they have differences of opinion over their daughter’s circumstances, which take a toll on their marriage.
Sebastian is producing the project with Jeff Solema of Go East Media, according to Deadline.
Now based in Los Angeles, Sebastian premiered her second directorial effort, “Freelancers Anonymous,” an English-language feature produced by Full Spectrum Features in Chicago, and recognized with the gender-parity stamp from ReFrame and IMDbPro. Miller’s long career includes roles in the Oscar-winning film “The Artist,” her Golden Globe-nominated turn in “Carlito’s Way” and recent television work in shows ABC’s “American Crime” and The CW’s “Riverdale.” Her other movie credits include “The Freshman,” “Kindergarten Cop” and “Saving Lincoln.”
Another venerable screen presence, Mulroney can currently be seen on HBO’s new comedy “The Righteous Gemstones,” Netflix’s “Arrested Development” and Hulu’s “Four Weddings and a Funeral” series. His film credits include “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “August: Osage County” and “The Grey.”
