In her first film since she earned a best actress Oscar nomination for the 2018 version of “Star Is Born,” Lady Gaga will star in a movie about the Gucci family fashion empire and the murder of the grandson of its founder, Guccio Gucci.

Gaga will portray Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, whom he left in 1985 for a younger woman after 12 years of marriage, according to Variety.

Reggiani was tried and convicted of coordinating her ex-husband’s assassination on the steps of his office in Italy in 1995. She was nicknamed Black Widow during the trial and served 18 years before being released from prison in 2016.

The movie will be based on Sara Gay Forden’s book “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.”

Four-time Oscar nominee Ridley Scott, whose credits include “The Martian,” “Black Hawk Down,” “Gladiator,” “Thelma & Louise,” is directing. Roberto Bentivegna is writing the story.

Scott, who most recently directed “All the Money in the World” about the 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III, will produce with his wife and partner Giannina Scott and his Scott Free Productions.

Giannina Scott originally brought the Gucci project to her husband. Giannina Scott also teamed with Ridley Scott as a producer on “Concussion” and “Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House.” She co-produced “Matchstick Men” and was a producer on “Tristan & Isolde.”

The Gucci murder project has not been set up with a studio distributor, according to Variety.

Ridley Scott currently is directing the historical drama “The Last Duel,” starring Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Adam Driver for Disney-Fox.

Gaga earned two Oscar nominations for her work on “A Star Is Born”: She earned a best actress nomination and won an Oscar for writing the film’s anthem “Shallow,” which became a hit duet with her co-star, Bradley Cooper.
