Kelly Hu (“The Scorpion King,” the “X-Men” movies, Netflix’s “Finding ‘Ohana”) will lead the feature film “Breast Cancer Bucket List.”

Hu will star as Brenda Lee, who is facing her mortality after she is diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. With the help of her best friend Meg (Patricia Velasquez, “The Mummy” movies), Brenda is determined to find her daughter Talia (Sylvia Kwan, “Grey’s Anatomy”), whom she gave up for adoption as an baby. Although she is initially hesitant to get to know her biological mother, Talia ultimately lets Brenda into her life – and sets off with her on a journey to check off every item on Brenda’s bucket list.

Producers Autumn Federici and Jake Helgren are embarking on the project under their production banner, The Ninth House Films, according to Deadline. Roxy Shih (“Painkillers”), who recently helmed “Whose Child” for Ninth House Films, will direct, while Jessica Landry (“Cheerleader Abduction”) is writing the screenplay.

The Ninth House is currently in post production on “Whose Child,” which Deadline reports is a socially conscious film about domestic child abuse starring Anna Schafer. The production company recently produced “Dashing in December,” which aired on The Paramount Network in December.
