WEEK IN WOMEN: Ann-Margret to be honored at Chita Rivera Awards – Brandy McDonnell reports

Stage and screen icon Ann-Margret will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Chita Rivera Awards, which promote and recognize dance and choreographic excellence on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in film. One of Hollywood’s most celebrated and versatile stars, Ann-Margret has won five Golden Globe Awards and an Emmy Award. A dynamic force in film, television, music and live performance, she also has earned two Academy Award nominations, for best supporting actress in 1972 for Carnal Knowledge and best actress in 1976 for Tommy.

This year’s Chita Rivera Awards will be handed out May 18 at NYU Skirball Center in New York. Named for the late dancer, singer and actress who earned 10 Tony nominations in her trailblazing Broadway career, the mission of the Chita Rivera Awards is to promote and recognize dance and choreographic excellence on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in film.

“Ann-Margret is a singular icon whose electrifying presence has defined ‘triple threat’ for stage, film, and television,” said awards producer Joe Lanteri, who is the founder and executive director of the New York City Dance Alliance Foundation, in a statement.

“She has inspired generations of dancers to perform with the same passion and vivacious spirit that has defined her remarkable six-decade career. We are excited to celebrate her at this year’s awards and know our audience is in for a treat.”
